OGC Webservices

Web services are used to make data available to third parties for viewing, processing and data analysis. The Web Map Services (WMS) and Web Feature Services (WFS) standards developed by the Open Gis Consortium (OGC) are far the most used standards to exchange maps and geographic data.   

Web Map Services (WMS)

GeolinQ offers functionality to configure Web Map Services (WMS) to exchange maps. WMS layers in GeolinQ are configured as a dynamic dataset selection of datasets from one or more datasources. All datasets, including new datasets and updated datasets that satisfy the selection criteria are automatically published by the WMS. This guarantees that the WMS always serves the most recent data. For each dataset one of more styles can be selected. Styles are compliant to the Styled Layer Descriptor (SLD) of the OGC. Functionality is available to import, use, edit and export dataset SLD’s. Each style is published as a separate WMS layer. WMS services can be configured for all types of geographic data and are generally used to integrate with map viewers.    

Web Feature Services (WFS)

GeolinQ offers functionality to configure Web Feature Services (WFS) to exchange geographic data. WFS features in GeolinQ are configured as a dynamic data selections of datasets from one or more data models. All datasets, including new datasets and updated datasets that meet the selection criteria are automatically published by the WFS. This guarantees that the WFS always serves the most recent data. WFS services are generally used to integrate with processing tools and GIS analyzing tools like ArcGIS and QGIS.    

Transactional Web Feature Services (WFS-T)

Configuring Transactional Feature Services (WFS-T) enables to edit, create or delete objects using third party applications.This accounts for both geometry as attribute values. 

Web Coverage Service (WCS)

Point clouds or raster datasets are made available to end-users or application by using the Web Coverage Service (WCS). Just like WMS and WFS services the WCS exists of layers where datasets are included. By a condition on the meta data of the dataset multiple dataset are combined to a single WCS layer. New datasets that satisfy the WCS condition are automatically added to the WCS layer. As a result the WCS layer is always up-to-date.
